Our philosophy is in following the child.

It means to observe and learn more about who they are and what they need as an individual, for them to thrive! In doing so we can create an environment that is conducive to their individual growth.

 

Independence

We believe that when we give children more freedom within limits and independence, they naturally learn how to have more self discipline within. It also instills more self confidence! The children learn to trully believe in their capabilities which makes them thirsty for more! We are their guides in the classroom and we believe we are learning from them as they are also learning from us.​

Discipline

We believe that a child needs guidance in this world. We all need mentors! Because of that we believe discipline is essential! Our discipline style comes from teaching, connection and using love and logic with the child.

The word “discipline” is from the Latin word disciplina, meaning “instruction and training.” It is derived from the root word discere—”to learn.”

In our twenty plus years of combined teaching we have learned that children are very capable of understanding what is expected of them. We expect for them to be kind and respectful to themselves, others and the environment. Most children, most of the time understand when we give them reasons to WHY they cannot do something. They are a lot more capable of understanding than many adults give them credit.

Our classroom has a peace area where the child can go to find their peace. We also believe that children learn to regulate their emotions through their caregivers and parents, in turn meaning that we the adults must model how to regulate our own emotions as well and hold space for the child when they are experiencing theirs, judgement free.
